SWPL PLAYER OF THE WEEK: FC Cypress Christopher Martinez

LA MIRADA, CA (NOV. 9, 2022) – FC Cypress defender Christopher Martinez has been selected SWPL Player of the Week.

Born in Anaheim, CA, Martinez was flawless in defense in a 1-0 victory over Colympiacos CA II in a SoCal Premier 2022/23 Season match on Saturday, Oct. 29. Martinez was 5 of 5 on tackles attempted, 17 of 17 on pass attempted and retained 100 percent possession as FC Cypress (6-0-1 overall) moved to within three points of the leaders in the Men's Second Division South race.

Martinez graduated from Fullerton (CA) Sunny Hills High School. He previously played at Fullerton Rangers (CalSouth) and at Fullerton College (CCCAA). 

The SWPL Player of the Week is selected from nominations from league members.
