LA MIRADA, CA (November 15, 2022) - The field is set for the 2022-'23 Raul Briones Cup.

32 of the top men's amateur clubs in Southern California are participating in the months-long event kicking off the weekend of Dec. 2-4. The winner, crowned in the spring, will earn a berth in the 2023 NISA Independent Cup.

"We are thrilled to organize the Raul Briones Cup again this year and keep it going as the longest running men's cup tournament in Southern California. It's a great honor to be able to offer the NISA Independent Cup opportunity to so many terriffic clubs for the second consecutive season," SoCal Premier League President Matt Morse said.

The top two in each group advance to the knockout round stages of the Raul Briones Cup while the third- and fourth-place finishers from each group move on to the Brent Freeman Friendship Cup, a seperate knockout round cup tournament that ensures every participating team at least group stage and knockout round play.

"It's a great tournament with a really cool history, and this year it starts right in the middle of the World Cup," SoCal Premier League Vice President Dennis Pope said. "This tournament is a difference-maker now and clubs are starting to notice."

Capistrano FC, the 2022 NISA Nation Southwest champion, is the No. 1 seed in the tournament and sits atop Group A.

A live draw was held on Monday night, Nov. 14, at Artesia (Calif.) DES Hall to determine all 32 places in the tournament.
